It’s the end of 2014 and we’d like to say a huge thank you for what’s been an amazing year.
As 2014 draws to a close I thought I’d throw together a quick post as a thank you and I’m sure Adam will echo my thoughts. I’m not normally one for these end of year posts but I think it’s important to reflect and celebrate achievements and learnings.
I launched this podcast on 31st March 2014 and if you listen to that first episode I’m very nervous and not even sure how this show was going to work out. I knew I wanted to do something for my love for Doctor Who but didn’t want to do just another written text-based blog. I wanted to be more emotive and let people see my personality a bit more, something you can’t always do with just words.
After that first episode received some pretty good review I ploughed on and just got into it. I wanted to talk about a good mix of Who subjects so I chose to go through the current news at the time of each recording then chose either to review a current episode of Who if it was on TV at the time or pick a classic episode to review. This has worked out to be a pretty good running order so far as it takes the show to a reasonable one hour in length (roughly).
For the second show I was able to grab Neil Perryman (thank you Neil!) and interview him about his brilliant book Adventures with the Wife in Space. That went down well and I’ve been meaning to do more interviews ever since but alas, haven’t got around to sorting. This is on the 2015 plan however so look out for those throughout the year.
Fast forward to October 2014 and I made a change to the show, in a big way. In previous episodes I had invited Adam Charlton from The Geeks Handbag on as a guest co-host as I wanted someone to change things up slightly and after Adam’s first show I got some great feedback about our chemistry and banter so I got him on again soon and after the second show together I thought “why not invite Adam to permanently co-host?”. Fortunately Adam accepted and we’ve run the show together since October. I’m so glad Adam accepted as the show is much better off for it. He brings buckets of personality, humour, wit and knowledge to the show and he’s always enthusiastic to make the show as good as it can be. Thank you so much Adam.
And here we are, the end of 2014 and it’s been an awesome year. Most of all this year, I would like to thank each and everyone of you who’ve subscribed to the show, followed us on Twitter, liked us on Facebook, commented, shared, re-tweeted or even just listened to the show once. It’s because of all of you that the show has lasted and has grown lots in terms of subscribers and listeners. I can’t thank you enough and honestly, 100% sincerely, really appreciate it.
For 2015 we have some plans to get out and about to meet you guys at some conventions and also bring you some new and exciting stuff on the show. Follow us on the usual social channels so you can keep up-to-date with what we’re doing and if nothing else, just to say hi!
In closing, it’s been an awesome year and it’s been great talking to you from behind a mic about the best show on TV. Thank you all once again and here’s to an incredible 2015. Best to you all and good luck in what ever adventures you plan on going on. Speak to you all soon and remember – Allons-y!
