Big Blue Box Podcast – Episode 55

Howdy Who fans! We have some cool news to go through then we’re back to Gallifrey for this week’s classic story review.

The News

The UK now has a confirmed start time for the series 9 opener on the 19th September – 7:40pm. Make a note and don’t be late!

More Torchwood audio is on the way from Big Finish. This time Eve Myles and Kai Owen return to continue their adventures. Hopefully a complete Torchwood cast audio is on the way.

There have been a couple of extra guests added to the Doctor Who Festival in November. Regular writer Mark Gatiss and Big Finish maestro Nicholas Briggs will be there. There will also be photo opportunities.

The BBC, as part of the ongoing Male it Digital campaign, are launching a new game creator on the 15th September. They will provide the assets and tutorials to get you going then your creativity is your only limitation! We love that the BBC is encouraging creativity in the Who fandom and can’t wait to see what you guys come up with.

“The Deadly Assassin” Review

After a precognitive vision we’re back on Gallifrey for a classic Tom Baker story. Companionless The Doctor has been framed by The Master so it’s all going on. Does this often liked story get us rooting for the Doctor or does it leave us wandering around the Matrix?

This week’s trivia question

Last episode we asked you – Which story did Roger Delgado’s wife provide her voice? The answer is – Planet of the Spiders.

This week’s question is – On what planet are Voltrox found? Give us your answer in the comments below or post it on Twitter or Facebook. Good luck!

It’s been great going through this week’s Who stuff with you and we’re getting more excited as series 9 draws closer. Remember to give us your thoughts on next week’s review episode – David Tennant’s Planet of the Ood. Have a great week and remember – Allons-y!

Glad you had a good time at the DWE, it’s an awesome place and Happy Birthday!

Not so good about the experience in FP though, maybe it’s a one off as when I was in the Cardiff branch last they were very good.

Thanks for the kind words too 🙂

Have to say I agree with Garry, I am not a huge fan of The Deadly Assassin either myself. That said, I do like the cliffhangers at the end of Part 2 and 3. A 6/10 for me.

Indeedy, cliffhangers are ok but as a whole, not quite there for me.
