3. Doctor Who: The Crusade Vinyl LP

“History must take its course.”
Demon Records presents, for the first time on double 140g green and yellow translucent vinyl, the complete narrated TV soundtrack of ‘Doctor Who: The Crusade’, with linking narration by William Russell.
The TARDIS travellers materialise in 12th Century Palestine, where English Crusaders are engaged in a holy war with Saladin, ruler of the Saracens. When Barbara (Jacqueline Hill) is abducted in a Saracen ambush, the Doctor (William Hartnell), Vicki (Maureen O’Brien) and Ian (William Russell) find themselves guests at the palace of King Richard the Lionheart (Julian Glover).
Only two of its four episodes survive in the BBC TV archive, but this vinyl release features the complete audio soundtrack. Includes beautifully illustrated individual sleeves featuring Radio Times-style billings for each episode.
Demon Records have dedicated this release to the memory of narrator William Russell, who died in June aged 99. This vinyl audiobook is available from all good Record stores including Thesoundofvinyl.com, Recordstore and HMV.

5. Big Finish – October’s Standout Releases

October’s lineup from Big Finish Productions includes spooky goings on in a Welsh graveyard in Torchwood: Widdershins. The Doctor’s daughter comes face to face with the richest woman in the universe in Jenny – The Doctor’s Daughter Series 03: Saving Time and a trio of sinister investigative tales in The Scarifyers.
However, the two standout releases for me have to be, Doctor Who: The Quintessence and Doctor Who: Time War – Uncharted 1: Reflections.
Doctor Who: The Third Doctor Adventures: The Quintessence
“The Doctor and Jo Jones arrive at ‘Always’, a Victorian manor house perched impossibly on the distant storm-world of Nethara Reach. Greeted by the peculiar Pepperdines, a couple frantic with worry about their ailing daughter, they discover terrible secrets hiding within the panelled walls and gruesome oil paintings. Secrets that will bring the Doctor face to face with one of his most ancient and implacable enemies, and put his relationship with Jo to the ultimate test.”
