Back to solo duty this week and the Tardis is looking very, very big on the inside. Plenty of news, Tardis Talk about Series 8 and a slightly different retrospective.
A big survey run by SFX mag sees over 90,000 fans vote on their favourite sci-fi, horror and fantasy moment and Doctor Who tops the poll. Quite surprisingly, the winning moment is the very sad goodbye scene at Bad Wolf Bay. What do you think to this? Deserved?
I recently reported that the new comic runs from Titan Comics would probably be extended to include the 12th Doctor which has now been announced. Starting on October 1st you’ll be able to pick up your issues from Forbidden Planet (this is unconfirmed but as they’ve opened up pre-orders for the 10th and 11th Doctor comic runs, it’s a safe bet the 12th Doctor issues will also be available).
John “Captain Jack Harkness” Barrowman and Doctor Who Executive Producer Julie Gardner both pick up MBE’s for services towards television amongst other things. Really well deserved and it’s always great when people heavily involved with Doctor Who get great awards and recognition.
Lastly, the Doctor Who Experience in Cardiff is shutting its doors temporarily on September 1st for six weeks while it’s given a revamp and update to reflect the new Doctor. In the last couple of episodes where I’ve given you my thoughts on the Experience this is welcome news to give it a facelift.
I dive into my own minds thoughts and pick out five things that I’m really looking forward to for upcoming Series 8;
- The Doctor “Peter Capaldi” himself
- A new direction for the show
- New title sequence
- Clara’s development
- No series break!
Retrospective – 2005’s Rose
After every episode so far being focused on the classic era (which is no bad thing), I’m changing it up a bit and taking a look at a modern story which is the 2005 revival episode Rose. I give the run down on what I love about this episode and why I think Eccleston is a very good Doctor.
Thanks for stepping inside the Tardis for episode 7 and I’d love to hear your thoughts on what you’re looking forward to for Series 8. Until next time – Allons-y!
